A very overlooked but rather beautiful spring flower, the Spring Star Flower (Ipheion Uniflorum) which makes a lovely clump forming addition to a border or rockery. It's leaves can be a little 'leary' once flowered but less messy than many grape hyacinths.
Available in blues, pinks or this white, tinged with a hint of mauvey-blue, I think this deserves a space in any spring border.
In my own, as you can see, it works so well with other harbingers of better weather to come like the pinks and thrift. Here's to the warmth of late spring!
